Sir:

I have the honor to acknowledge yours of the inst stating that, Rev A. N. See of Covington Ga had addressed you, stating that I had written him to the effect that he was Local Superintendent of Education for Newton Co. You state that you do not understand this and ask me to explain.

I had rather an amazing interview with Mr. See last week in Covington on the subject of his Local Superintendency. He told me that my letter had surprised him - that he had addressed you upon the subject & had recd. your reply (manifesting surprise) which he showed me. On my return thro. Atlanta, it was my purpose to have called at your Office, but it was not practicalto.

changed the comma after sir to a colon, added some missing punctuation, and added the missing "to" at the end of the last paragraph. Though it might be something else?
