Dear sir,

I understand that you have the charge of the Free School Funds; I have taught school this year eight months & there is no prospect of getting any pay out of the freedmen; I had twenty scholars and would be very glad indeed if you can pay me any thing as I am needing money very much. If you have not charge of the Funds please apply to those who have them. Please let me hear from you soon.

Yours &c.
