I have been in over a year; took part in every battle fought by my reg. and was under fire one whole day with the Montanna Reg.

I've got enough. I am not willing to stay longer. But if I must I would at least like a 60 days furlough with permission to visit the U.S. All hand will go into camp here soon, for the rain will make it impossible to do any thing else.

Then came a long[[?]] dreary wait and then come [[?]] rule sickness 
There are over 4000 men in the 3 hospitals now.

And by the way a co.D. man was sent to Ito Hospital with smallpox, last Tuesday. You watch Genl. Otis' report for May & June. And if Chas. Maloy Co D 10 Pa Vol dies, it will be published: "Fever, Variola, or intero-colitis [[enterocolitis]].
