Dear Lucy

I have just received a letter from Beatrice Monk in which she speaks of having called on you recently. I am glad & hope she appreciates her Universalist Kinsfolk. For I know you are still Universalist. It shocked me to think that Beatrice had deserted the Universalist church & gone to the Congregationalists. Now that the Congregational church has burnt, the Congregationalists had better unite with the Universalists if they can. Have one church & try to make it liberal I know you would like that best. I have heard of other church fires & near-fires from faulty heaters or careless management. One near here had a narrow escape. Just to say that I was glad to hear from you,
