years. She is growing rather plump. She used to be thin.

Lula gave me a short surprise visit to-day. She brought a double lunch which the house puts up for her. I told her not to do it, but she said that it was due her. She had dinner with me, and so I did not open the lunch until to-night. Then it occurred to me that I should have opened it when she was here and given her back enough for her supper. Now she will either fast or have to buy it, I suppose. 

Mrs Pettergill gave me three beautiful jonquils for Easter. 

Madeleine, her husband, and little Edith came last Saturday, Gordon's father went down to Orono, Maine, and brought Gordon home from college Friday. They are still here. Brian too was home for the week-end. Then Gordon had a friend here for dinner and over night last night. Besides there have been hordes of loose company, that is company that comes and goes. So you see we are rather lively.
