"you are on an island," and the lady at once replied, "Yes, Rhode Island. We are going to Providence." They are observing little things all right.

I am putting in a couple of pictures for the baby. I suppose that you are still sending them to her.

I tore this paper when I ripped it off the pad. I am sorry.

I washed this morning, but had to dry my things in the house because it was so bad outside. I believe, though, that we are due to have good weather to-morrow.

Just think! One month of winter is gone! Soon we can begin to look for new buds and shorts. I wonder if Doris succeeded in gathering her hepaticas? Many things up here even have come up and some of the buds I am told were well out on the lilacs. Did I tell you that I saw a downy woodpecker a week or two ago? Do they stay here all winter?

I am glad that Mr. Holmes is sleeping better. That means that you are too, I hope.

Best wishes and love,

Lena
