December 9, 1931

Dear Folks,

It is now a little after six o'clock. I have just had my supper of our apple and a bowl of cracker and milk after getting home from up town. Now it sounds as though it were raining, though it was merely snowing when I was out!

My bed is well decorated with Christmas presents I am getting ready to send to Buffalo. I got a note from my sister this morning, - the first word I have heard from her since I went out to Berkshire to see her about the first week in November. She was planning then to go home in two days. It seems she didn't for about 3 or 4 weeks. John Hollis came down from Andover to see her and she noticed he was not well, put him to bed and summoned a doctor. He was in bed for ten days. She got him home a week or two ago and plans to keep him there until after New Year's anyway. Whether or not he will return to Andover then I don't know. My sister is so nervous, it wouldn't surprise me if she kept him home. She didn't say what was really
