the matter with him.

Mrs Dawson has been having teeth out. She says that Dr. Miles, her physician, said that her teeth were causing the pains in her arms, but that another Dr. Miles, her dentist, said that it was not her teeth but neuritis. Inasmuch as neuritis is often caused by bad teeth, I think his argument a poor one. However, as usual, Miss Dawson made a joke of the matter. She said they were both going a mile a minute but in the opposite direction.

I couldn't make out from your letter whether you had just received my letter the day you wrote or not. I had already sent the candy, however, and hope that you have been eating freely of it. I ground up dates, raisins, and prunes together, and then made the mixture up into little oblongs and rolled them in sugar. They should be very good indeed for both of you. I hope that you liked them and ate a lot.

I am enclosing a few pictures for you to send to the baby. I imagine that she still looks for something from "grandma."

I hope that Mr. Holmes is not worrying so much now, and that you are getting some rest. You certainly are wonderful. People with as many good deeds to look back upon as you and Mrs. Holmes have really ought to feel happy. Lots of love,
Lena.
