I have had the dressmaker here four days so far, and she is to come again to-morrow. I am getting a great many of my old duds put in order, as well as new ones made. I guess I shall get the whole thing done for what one good new coat would cost me. She charges only $2.50 per day, and turns off an enormous amount of work.

The other day I spent so much at the fair that I had only twenty-one cents left to pay for getting my hair trimmed, but the beauty parlor girl seemed to think I needed a real cut - instead of just a trim, but I told her to give me twenty cents' worth and let it go at that. Then later I gave her one little tiny doll I had bought which she thought she would like to give to her little niece or somebody. She said that next time she would give me a full cut whether my hair needed it or not, so that it would be all right. 

I am getting pretty good marks on my course. After my sewing is out of the way, I hope to be able to give more time to it.

I am sure I have reason to be grateful to Mr. Holmes and you for all the nice things you have always done for me. I don't see how I could be other than appreciative. Miss Drake in the post office spoke of him in the same way - a very valuable citizen. He has a great many friends,
