The queer part of the whole thing is that doctors think adults catch the virus from children who have chicken pox, and that children catch chicken pox from adults who have shingles. I suppose it can still be said to be directly contagious, too. Like the pine blister, it appears to have two generations of growth, so I guess either adults or children will have to get going!

Yesterday, I shampooed my hair, and today I did some washing, but I do feel a bit like lying down. It is too hot to do so, however, so I think I will go up and mail this and then go over in the park for a breath of cooler air. It is 85 degrees in here, but at that is about 11 degrees cooler than it was in June during the warmest days.

Dear Ma:

Thank you for forwarding my two checks, one this last week an one some time ago.  This time I am going to write at once and then I shall not have to say "I intended to."
I sent Dorisid a birthday card which apparently you forwarded to Arlington.  I thought she might be with you.  In return she wrote me a nice little note, telling me about her 2-week camp job and of her looking for other work.  I hope she gets what she wants.  I was surprised to learn that she was equipped to teach handcrafts, but I am glad that she is interested in them, for, though she is primarily fitted for idea-work, there is relaxation and satisfaction in hand work at times.
