John Hallis was [[?]] on to Washington for a commution by M.I.T. He said the air-conditioned hotel was so cold they were miserable. At the banquet one moved in on evening drew had to wear a polo coat. Air conditioning is nothing but air off ice. I experienced it on my trip to and from California. It can be dangerous.
Did you get any plants and fenners planted this year? You will miss that if you didnt. I imagine Davis prunes the perennials when she is home so you lovers [[?]] any way.
My love to you and Mrs. Berry

Dear Mrs. Holmes,
Thank you for formalizing my Tel. & Tel. check. I looked to see if there was a note from you, but didn't find one. Perhaps this year you can come out with the two Davises and Sid for a picnic. You could let me know ahead of time so I would be reare table in.
I was so surprised the night Davis called in June. When I asked who it was knocking or calling, she asked, "Davis you know?" I thought the voice sounded like Davis; but, of course I supposed she was in Washington. You men can tell.
