Benton Miss June 26th 1865

We the undersigned do hereby certify that we have this day made an agreement with John Simmons to work faithfully for him as he may direct, for one third of the net (or surplus) of the agriculture proceeds on his place at Benton, up to January the 1st 1866. He furthermore agrees to allow us comfortable quarters, food, clothes and medical attendance, as heretofore, half of every Saturday in the week for our  own persuit, and the whole day of the 4th of July. We also promise, that if any member of the undersigned shall by fainting sickness, willfull neglect, or contraryness violate the above agreement shall forfeit his claims to the same
