This agreement made and entered into this 25 day of June AD 1865 between Richard Ledbetter of Yazoo Co. Miss of the first part and the persons herein named and undersigned party of the Second part of said County and State aforesaid Witnesseth that for the purpese [[purpose]] of finishing the cultivation and gathering the crop on the plantation which the said Ledbetter resides during the present year terminating 1st day of January 1866. The party of the first part do hereby bargain and agree with the party of the Second part that he will feed - cloth and furnish medacines[[medicine]]-administering with the nurse of the place as he had usually dones— Their wives & children living with them in the quarters now occupied by them or elsewhere to suit the conveniance of the said Ledbetter- giving them kind treatment to 1st Jany next- And when the Crop gathered by the party of the Second part - Cotton gined & packed said Ledbetter agrees to give them for their faithful labour one half of the cotton crop made and cultivated this year on said farm — deducting therefrom the expense of bagging, rope & twine to bag said half of the cotton — each hand in the house as the field to draw their portion of Cotton according to number of hand — And each party as soon as they can prepare houses to rase chickens and to have their own truck patch or garden — given them for & in Consideration of the faithful labours of the party of the Second part & their wives & children to 1st Jany 1866. And the party of the Second part and their wives & children do bargain and agree with said Ledbetter that for the Consideration promised and agreed by said party of the first part to pay them the party of the Second party & their wives and children will faithfully labour during the year — And agreeing from their portion of Cotton their taxes are to be paid — And binding themselves to obey all orders-
