given by said Ledbetter or James Brown Esq the manager of the farm during the year. It is further agreed if necessary to call in further medical aid the bill to be paid by the party so calling out of his portion of cotton and should either lose time by sickness or otherwise deductions to be made accordingly. It is further agreed with Tom and others (known as the Wm Ledbetter hand) if they meet with a chance to be removed to Tennessee to the old farm where they formerly resided they are to leave with the usual deductions of time and crop. It is agreed with Guss, Soph and Lavat — who comes on the place since the agreement was made — that they are not to have any portion of the cotton unless by consent of all parties — but bind themselves to work and labour during the year faithfully with the privileges in every other way as the other hands which is for and in consideration of the above wages stipulated and agreed to be paid by said Ledbetter.
