Legal Recourse left to the party or parties aggrieved Render this Contract liable to anulmement By the Provost marshal of freedmen & it is agreed of the part of the [[strikethrough]] second [[/strikethrough]] part of the second part that he will Each well & faithfully perform such Labour as the said Shadrick Rodgers may Require of him for the time aforesaid not Exceeding ten hours per day in summer, & nine hours in winter & in Case any Laborer shall voluntarily absent himself from shall neglect or Refuse to perform the Labor herein Promised & the fact shall be proven to the satisfaction of the Proper officer the party so offending shall be Punished in such manners as the Provost marshal of freedmen shall deem proper.
 It is further agreed that any wages or share of Profits Due the said Labourer under this agreement shall Constitute a first Lien upon all Crops or parts of Crops produced on Said Plantation or tract of Land By their Labor and in the prevents of products shall be made untill the Provost Marshall of freedmen shall Certify  that all Sues to said Laborer are Paid or satisfactorily arranged
