Jimmie telephoned Friday night that her father had died. I was in bed, so Mrs. Pettengill took the message. She learned, however, that he had been brought up to Auburndale because there was no one to care for him at the farm in Connecticut. I am glad he could be with Jimmie. She would be good to him, and make him as comfortable and happy as he well could be. I wrote to her this after-noon.  

I got a letter from my sister, one from Theodore, and one from Bonny, together with one of her school papers, this morning. Both T. and J.H. have been busy with midyears.
