Dear Folks,

There were a few things that I was intending to write, but they seem to have slipped my mind. One, I believe, is that we caught, (or the trap did) a good-sized mouse the other night. I hope he is the only one, but I suppose time is needed to decide that question. I have also been batting flies to an extent which has nearly eliminated them. Mr. Holmes gets up in the mornings, and gets his breakfasts before I get down. This morning, however, I obstinately woke early and ached to get up before he did, but, not wishing to disturb him, I curbed my desires until he should start.

Gertrude called up yesterday. I guess she was more than surprised when I told her both of you were in Washington. She said she could cut a baby bunting hood, but I told her of the pattern of the sleeping bag. She invited me over. I have been spending hours sitting
