13 Pomeworth Street Stoneham,Massachusetts April l4, 1928 Dear Folks, It is almost a week since Doris and Sid went back,so I suppose you have already heard from them once or twice. Is his father and mother all right now? I hpoe so. How is the road work going? I hope Fred will be able to live up to his boast and make the new man do his share of the work;but, for my part, I don't see how anyone is to get blood out of a stone. How did that petition for more money for the work you two did in Pratt's place come out? For my part I don't believe they give a hang who does the work,or who hangs back and does none so long as they can sooth their consciences by providing the required number of men, whether efficient or not. I am enclosing my check for the April co-operative dues. I guess that next month and the two following I will let the interest on the paid-up shares settle for. That will make me all paid up through July;won't it ? Miss Garland and I went to the Middlesex Fells a week ago to-day and got some more hepaticas. She went home yesterday for her last vacation before the long summer one;so I shall have the place to myself this coming week. Take care of yourselves! Lena
