Thursday Evening.

Dear Folks,

I got the letters you forwarded from Doris and Miss Dawson. Thank you very much. Doris and Sid are certainly having their hands full. Tell Doris that if she boiled out some clothes in good sudsy ammonia water I think that the odor of smoke in the house might largely disappear. That is what I did the time I had my smell out at Westland Avenue. I had previously scrubbed and scrubbed, walls, woodwork, and everything scrubable without effect. The accidental boiling seemed to do the work quite miraculously. I had got to the point where I hated the place it smelled so abominably. I am glad Sid got the pay he did. That was a piece of good luck certainly.

I am having a rather hard time. You see I got so tired after Thanksgiving that at Xmas I seemed all keyed up and unable to let go and the strain and work has continued. In three weeks or so more I hope to finish my course and get a little rest in there. The doctor found both of my ears infected. He says they have been bad for a year or more. They keeps me bothered somewhat. I didn't ask anything about paying for my room during the vacation, but just merely paid for board and room for one week after I had been back one week.
