Monday night and carried all the way to Arlington whence I took electrics in. I was glad for I had stayed at school with the others to put report cards through. He had said it would take 2 1/2 or 3 hours. I couldn't see why, and three of us girls worked together, with him at the desk, and Miss Putnam and Mr. Hines called off their and my marks. I marked cards to go out, Miss Haslett blotted them and Miss O'Connell put them into envelopes. At last Mr. Bates himself seemed to catch the spirit so we got them out in about 1 1/2 hours. We could have done even better if we hadn't had to wait for him to write in subjects on the reserve cards. Next time, as that now is done, I think we ought to get them out much more quickly.
