Evening

I thought it very good of them.  Mrs. H. had left things or put them back just as they were and had put some salvias on my table.  Mrs. Cole's is good too.  She started with ten but has already been persuaded to take twelve.  That is enough for her.

The trunk came through in good season.  It cost on 87ยข so I think it was wise sending it as we did.  Thank you for getting it off, and ticketing it so nicely.

I had thought somewhat of going to Boston to see Doris and Sid off, but Bates had a meeting.  I probably shouldn't

have anyway.  It would be a hard trip, down and back.  

We have one new teacher in the high school and are much overcrowded.  We are short at least two rooms - really three - and yet Bates the other night began to tell us that we ought not to keep pupils after school for conference but should call them forward during our study periods.  I told him that we had heard that old gag before and that if he would provide the conference room, we would confer.  It was so ridiculous to talk that way when we haven't enough rooms for
