Dear Doris

We have had a little rain & Saturday it was cooler today it is cool & cloudy we may get rain again the other wet down only about an inch so you see we are sadly in need of more. fruit is about half as large as usual. I managed to walk over to the old place. there are no apples on the Mackintosh red & only a few pears. the old dead pear tree still stands. Drake has trimmed out those old quince bushes. they still harp on a bathroom toilet & say it would be cheaper now to put it in than to wait for the sewerage next summer.

This is a cold day I have had on my sweater the biggest part of the day & its none too warm.

I have had Olson here cleaning up the back yard, cutting up the heavy stuff that was brought up from the Blake house & carting off the ashes. I am trying to think of some way to have the old tin cans that have accumulated. he said the car was his mothers. (Mamie Sylvesters) & he didnt think she would like to have them carted in that.
