1944 - Sunday.  Franklin's birthday.  Daddy, boys, went to Katrina Brent's ice plant.  Uncle Gantt, Aunt Florence & [[me?]].
1945.  Monday.  Franklin's birthday.  nice & warm. had cake and leamonade.  started thrashing wheat today.
1946 Tuesday. cool out today.  Cousin Genie still here.  Daddy & boys to Brandywine.
1947 Wednesday.  Spent day with Aunt Maggie.  Holiday there.  saw Helen & Egil.  very hot (95 degrees F).  Men worked on farm.  Cut load of tobacco.

1944 Monday. hot. canned tomatoes.  Daddy & boys out till 4:00 p.m.
1945
V-J Day 7 p.m.
Tuesday.  Trashed wheat.  nice & warm out.  Daddy & Robert see out.  washed clothes today.  Japan surrendered war's over.
1946 Wednesday.  All to Marshall Hall for the day.  Then to Marg. Ward's she is very sick.  warm out today.
1947 Thursday.  hot out.  Mr. John Williams to see Franklin.  He is going to teach at D.C. next year.  hauled logs & lumber.  Mrs. Smoots "Sissy"
