JULY 1
Saturday. Good Days. I started cultivating corn but quit because it was cutting too many roots, We planted potatoes all day, down by old barn. got 1/2 ton 5-10-5' from Dyson. went to Waldorf in afternoon then to [[Mudds?]] to get soybeans & then to Harry Holden and then carried 1 ton of hay to [[Gordon?]]. Went up to [[Bobs?]] at night. [[?]] Judy [[made?]] up with me

JULY 2
Sunday Good day all day. Daddy, Mary, Robert + I went to church. nobody came all day. I went to see Wallace + Kent. Bob Via and I went to the movies at night. daddy up to [[Mayhan?]] to get some [[?]]. Hot today 88°

JULY 3
Monday Good day all day. got trasher and started trashing wheat. baled straw with Pickey Bales at the same time. Jack helped us. Mary, Robert and I went to the Movies and Waldorf at night to see "Cinderella" good picture. got home 11:30 P.M.

JULY 4
Tuesday fair day. trashed wheat 1/2 a day. all three men worked. daddy Mother + Mary + Robert went to [[?]] down to [[St Palo?]]. I stayed home + sacked wheat up to go to [[William?]] [[Rogers?]] in the Morning. & tp put the straw [[?]] I went up to Bobs at night. saw Adina May.

July 4-1776-Decision to make Declaration of Independence; hence celebrated
