Maude said she would have taken me down to the church Sunday but never thought untill too late, the exercises were great. I told her it was just all right my hearing would have prevented my enjoying the speaking. Faxon & Helen Metcalf were the oldest ones Wallace they intended to have as the President Ralph said. being one of old members but Dr Faxon is 82 Wallace is 78 but he looks to be 90 he praised Faxon as being a good speaker & also well preserved. he said he always liked him. I guess we liked him, he was in our class at high school, but was an ordinary schollar, where Wallace was much better. he was a poor boy then & took care of Dr Irvans barn, he was his hostler, it is pretty hard to make folk believe it now. most all his old associates are dead & gone, he came of a big feeling race, but very poor. Grandma Capen fed them when they used to live in Old Ned Boles house the "Borvery". so Mame says. I often wish we might hear from her do you ever hear from Ethel it is nice she can be at her mothers, helping take care of her before she passes on. Helen was playing out under so much strain. hope they get along. pretty spunky & like to boss the persimmons are here safe & they are not mushy about right tasted good. she does not care for them thinks them too puckery. hope you get out & are rested.
