Lena came up in the middle of the week one afternoon she had been in the woods after wild flowers she had a basket on her arm. she was not looking very well.  she had been making jellies & jams. she likes to do those things but she seems to have no real object in view. I hope her money holds out she is very close mouthed on her private affairs. she may come up this afternoon. it is is very pleasant. we wish some one would come up to take us for a ride. Careta is spending the week end up to Mildred Curtis in New Hampshire. she leaves Barbara with her friend who is stopping there.  Mrs. Marden is paying her bills & taxes on the house & everything the brother gives her checks every little [[strikethrough]][[Mess?]][[/strikethrough]] while so she in that way pays for her
