Addie thinks I care more for Gertrude than I do for her & I do, but Blanch tells her that I think she is very smart and capable & tries to smooth the feelings the best way she can she laughs & talks with them & they all like her she is so jolly. she went over there to sing F Toomey wanted her to come over I refused to because I thought it would nerve me up young people I did not belong there. Gertrude sent over some papers she had written articles for the papers & had got pay for them $10. for some. she was young when they were written. they were excellent. shows great talent. poetry & all. Hattie Smith called yesterday to say she was coming to call. she came later she has grown very thin we had a good time. she says Henry is ailing he dont walk any more than I do. they have their little store yet but that cant support them. I guess Atherton must help them some. she said Isabell Perrin stayed with her a week she has not sold her place here in town. but is living with her son she is 65 so Hattie said. her Aunt Abbie Green died out west soon after she went back from here. she told me Maggie Farrel was alone, & so was old marm McGarvey that Melvin has built a house up on Central St (or is building it). front of Farrells she is trotting around the neighborhood the same as usual.
