Dear Doris,
This has been a beautiful New Years day quite like summer and very sunny, after these gloomy rainy days. If you cant get out such a day is very welcome.
Alice gave a party last night that they greatly enjoyed. they sang and danced and had a fine treat which they all enjoyed.
Alice said [[Neystie?]] was fitting in so far and liked, she may suit she has the nursing and not much housework none of the cooking. as to the modern improvements she never had them so will not miss them there. if she kept from loving Mabel, she may be liked his nursing will be good. they have the district nurse come in every day to give him an [[inemina?]] and she can help on that the nurse has to have one to help so aside from that he will be easy. I dont know how much night work there will be required of her. she needs money and that Smith house is where she used to live, her old home before Alice was born. I do hope she may be satisfactory as she is not [[0/4?]]lying for the old age pension. I think my self she would eligible but she dont think so on account of having an unmarried son but he is not able to make a living for himself hardly on account of his health he has gaul stones.
