Dear Folks

It is growing colder, the wind has changed to the North & west it bids fair to be freezing before night. these sudden changes after a warm spell are sure to hit us wrong, but thats [[that's]] the New England climate here so near the coast. 

Mrs Barry went over the Ballentines party last night to sing. it was in celebration of Mrs B's 75th birthday & the anniversary of the Rings 19th marriage, their friends turned out in great shape. they had a very enjoyable time playing games, dancing & singing, after wards they had a good treat & Mrs Barry said it was a very nice crowd nothing coarse or rude, in fact much better than lots of towns gatherings here that have thought themselves "it." guess she would be a judge, she has always been used to good society all her life her time down to the Chicataubut club passed off well. they had the best time and one of the biggest gatherings that has ever been known since the club was first started, so Iva Lowe who is president, told her, all owing to her manigement [[management]] she said & the menu took, she is sending a receipt of it to you thinking you might like to try it sometimes. it is simple & to be made
