[[margin]]ps each hostess has to give 3 dollars apiece for the supper. but under her management it only cost them $[[1.89?]] so you see the other five hostesses got out of it cheaper + they did not help. Mrs Joe capen found the table decorations, + flowers + Mrs Campbell found the prizes + the rest gave their money. the hard work came out of Mrs Barry she went down in the cold the second time after candles.
the day before + put on ice. she has them put a piece aside for me + a jar of cream but they had ice cream to eat on it. Mrs Barry has just called up the Bolcords to see if he is coming over to finish his job of putting on the rest of our storm windows + to find out if Mrs Austin the woman we recommended to them has been there to see about taking care of Mr [[Colcord??]]. she said she was coming to see them today + talk it over + Gregory was fixing his ear, + might come to night in time to finish his job. she told her being cold we needed to have them on + hoped we would tend to it now if he could. I went to bed last night + to sleep just as soon as she went over to the party + didn't hear her when she came home. Mr [[Leriae?]] told her he wanted to come over some time + call he is retired + time hangs heavy on his hands. he gets awful blue, he has heart trouble + not able to do much work he says he always liked Mr Holmes he went out of his way to be nice to him always had something pleasing to say to him when he would meet him on the street. so you see Arthurs reputation lives with lots of people who knew him. its nice to be so thought of after we pass on. I don't hear from Maude + often wonder how she is managing these days it must be she is heating her big house this cold weather. she always had her electric lights running day + night, no idea of economy did she ever know. I pity her now she has no money for such extravagant tastes. well I have got my clothes washed + dry so now I wont have to worry[[! ?]]
