[[upper corner]] Rain with a faint coating of snow fell during the night cold and windy this morning [[end]]

Stoughton Nov 16th 1936

Dear Folks

Last night we had our second cold snap after a blowey day, when the thermometer this morning 20° it registered but the house was kept warm throughout the night. the sum has been clouded in partly to day & now it stands at just 40° & the sum is out bight again. I dont mind if the snow stays off. its all around us so the radio & papers say & we feel a decidedly snowy atmosphere. the oaks today are fast shedding their leaves, since this last cold snap. I am so thankful that Colcord got even the sitting room windows on. he was here long enough to have done the whole job, but he comes & sits down to talk, before he begins (an hour) till my nerves are terribly upset, it was a beautiful day to do them. I and if I have a job to do, let me get about it & them do my talking afterwards. he is funny, but good as he can be. he put two rungs into the ladder so he understands how to fix up things & I would not be afraid to ask him to do any thing of the sort. he did that of his own accord. there dont seem to be anything to tell, as I dont see people or go out anywhere. I called up Maude yesterday she said the children were there & the baby had a bad cold. she seems to be cheerful & getting along pretty fairly well & not apparently fretting much. guess she intends remaining there
