like the biggest part of the State of Massachusetts went for London, we are proud to say. its too bad & I hate to dwell on it for it makes me feel sick, as there does'nt seem much to live for. I am glad they put a good man in to take the place of Burley. poor London was not a very good speaker, but what he said rang true. if he had been elected they would have assassinated him no doubt. he got a very poor vote. now let them have the Great[[underlined]] I am[[underlined]] with his visionary ideas & governed by that Farley he goes to for advise they say he is a rascal. the president may end his career by appolplexy he certainly looks old & very much rinkled since he took his seat at the head of the nation.
I called up Lottie Brane she seemed pleased to think Sidney had lit the house down there & asked if you liked the man I said you had not said but he seemed all right so far we thought. to day she said just a year ago her mother died & she was headed for the Poor house she seemed discouraged poor thing. she is making doughnuts & Pies to sell. I should think Lena would drop a line to let us know how she is making out. she was always secret over her own affairs. Dr Ott is far from her now her health may hold out if she has something else to think about.
