Dear Folks.
The day is cloudy with promise of rain & colder weather. we have had a beautiful week just the same, for which I am very thankful for. 
Mrs Bruce has just been over to pay me the rent & to give me the extra five dollars on the old bill. she took me by the hand & asked me if I had worried & assured me they always meant to pay as soon as they could get it & wanted to know if it was not $50. they were still owing on their back rent. so I got my receipt out & showed her it was. it compared with hers, for which, I felt very thankful. she is anxious to pay it up & tells me not to worry, for they pay their bills if its a possible thing always. I like her for she rings true in what she says. very different from his mother, who comes usually with the rent.  My chrysanthemums are all in bloom. I have just picked a small boquet for the house.  she likes them & the rain may spoil their looks when it comes. They are giving Mr Marshal a big time. yesterday they had a great reception here in their church. all day & people from all around in different towns came. they confirmed over a hundred.
