Dear Folks

Were glad to hear you arrived home safe also sorry to hear of the house being broken into while you were gone & things strewen around as they were. it might have been worse perhaps. it would pay to set a man to watch your neighborhood so to catch the children who are doing such mischief before it gets worse I should think. children are allowed to do such things & get away with it these days it is horrid. we are having nice weather although today is a cold storm a gale is prophesied for us, it has not come yet though it may later, we hear in Virginia there has been one. hope for the best, it may have gone out to sea Wednesday while Mrs Barry went to Worcester she told Amy to call & spoke of going to Mrs Harrington also to the Ballentines. they all came one at a time & to cap all the man from Brockton came after that old boiler "so it never rains but it pours". I was well fixed for company that day. it was a most beautiful & warm sunny day with the wind in the South
