wicked for me to go now they are both dead. but who knows but what their spirits may not be hovering around to witness our visit there are so much of his work there that I shall surely enjoy seeing it. we had some steamed clams for our dinner & have enough left for a chowder. I have not had one for some time so it may be a rarity but I more relish one made of butter. pork seasons it far better. Maude thinks so. she enjoys eating the big slices with it, but excuse me, thats too hearty for my stomac. I was brought up on a farm with a big pork barrel to go to & my mother who loved boiled pork with vegetables, who had a good digestion & could eat such things. but my stomac was different it is too greasy by far. today is one beautiful day I have had to shut up the windows, the west wind comes in so strong. the shower certainly cleared the atmosphere & made a cool weekend for people in these parts to enjoy. am sorry you are living where it is so sultry & have to suffer for want of rain. they are coming here & everything looks very fresh & green our lawn is coming green grass where the dry weather struck us last month. I had it mowed Saturday & had the boy split me up some kindlings. I was waiting for Belchers shop folks to bring some I ordered a week ago & running short. 35 is all I have given the boy for mowing this season & he does it very well. we like him. in the winter he makes my paths. Mrs Barry is calling up Mamie for the first time since her sister was here Sunday. They did not want her to go down & told her so. she has been provoked at them untill today & who can blame her. Myrtie egged it on I think.
