she has just called up on the phone to say she has been to Mamies. since twelve & are coming up here at four O'clock to see her sister & then go away at five. Mrs Barry is fit to tie she is so mad & who can blame her. she may give her the devil I am afraid when she does show up, which will be at any moment. she is here now they met & her sister seemed very nervous. Mrs Barry introduced her & said a sister who thinks more of her cousin than she does of her own sister. & calls on her just because she feels obliged to. they had a little plain talk most of which she directed to me & finally told her that her cousin did not treat her decent & Stoughton people were down on Mamie for that reason & that she was jealous simply because Mrs Barry was so popular here. everybody is crazy to have her & no place is complete without her presance. tomorrow Laura wants her, but Marion has invited her down to her shore place at Hummerock beach, they have to speak ahead to get her. The sister is well to do her husband is a large man & well dressed, they seem to think everything of one another. she was the one that Jack Phinney wanted. they were once engaged but she left him for this Frank McBride & they said it was Jack's ruination. I guess he never would have ammounted [amounted] to much & she made a wise choice if her Pa did not speak to her 'till after her first child was born. Auntie Phinney pleaded in vain for her to take Jack back, but she knows her own mind best. well dont say anything about this rumpus. my sympathies are with Mrs Barry Mamie Kate is a deceitful liar. & Mrs Barry is the Poor relation who has done everything for her & she treats her horrid. jealous of her popularity. well I am feeling pretty well & we are cool it just has rained with the sun out
