Stoughton July 12th 1936

Dear Folks

To day we are having a cool & cloudy day after our tempests Friday afternoon & another severe one Saturday morning before light, the last was very severe & struck a house & tore out the whole front, after a tree was hit in the yard near the red bridge. terrible loud thunder & sharp lightning. New England is being hit by these severe storms. Every one so far seems to do lots of damage. I hope you may escape them, I see by the paper you are having it very hot 102 degrees. How do you stand it? 90 degrees is bad as we have been in our house. Mrs Barry went to Hummorock beach Friday & Alice Winslows car took them down. so when she Alice went to shut the car door she shut Barry's fingers in, it was a wonder she had'nt broken the bones of her two fingers. they were terribly bruised & sore but she soaked them well in hot sulphur Napthol & that was what took out the soreness. it is the best remedy for such things if it is old fashioned. they are going to give her a treat this week to celebrate her birthday. it was the fourth you know. I gave her a box of letter paper. I hope you get my letters. I sent the check in one the first of the week, hope you got it. I write three a week generally. We have just had our dinner fresh pork chops, baked potatoes & green peas, with tapioca cream. Bill is coming here again he came Friday night & brought us an
