Buteo Boralis [[Calurus?]] circled overhead when I was just above the Alabamas (note -- On the 17th early in the morning I shot a [[Faleopolyagorus?]]from a cottonwood tree near a house at the outskirts of Lone Pine -saw a [[Colaptes nexus?]] and a [[Picers?]] [[crossed out gairsee? \end crossed out]] [[fromsic?]] above the Alabamas on Lone Pine Creek. Saw burrows of some species of Scalops from the lower end of Canon of Lone Pine Creek in Alabamas up to lower edge of timber line at foot of Sierras. Neolonias nests were common on open [[trunks?]] near base of Sierras built above [[t?]] sage brush or cacti. Saw two small lizards on granite rock above Alabamas at midday. AS [[presaged?]] by southward flight of cranes + ducks on 17th the weather has become decidedly colder since. Thermom. at +20 deg this a.m. a 9.30 tonight the notes of a flock of Canada geese [[were?]]
