lying between the Coso and the Table Mts. The road leading over a divide in the latter. The Table Mts are covered with a cap of lava which extends down and overlies the northern part of the Coso Mts. The plain lying south of the northern range of Coso hills and the divide is covered with various species of shrubs of the usual desert kinds & also 3 [[strikethrough]] two [[/strikethrough]] small species of cacti. A large variously branched yucca is abundant on this plain with many creosote bushes. Holes of Dipodops & 2 species of Dipodomys and Tamias leucurus were very plentiful north of the divide. Most of this plain sloping towards Owens Lake is made up of decomposed granite & the granite formation comes to the surface at the divide [[arrow pointing upward to "surface"]] to 7 miles from Darwin.
