pack up the two miles between the lake & the town on their backs,- men & women alike carrying heavy loads & each with their paddle in hand. They carry their backloads [[strikethrough]] by [[/strikethrough]] resting their burdens on their hips with a band across their the chest in place of on the forehead as is the case with some Indians. They are usually bare headed but many have the common conical straw hats.

The men have nothing distinctive in their costume, wearing a white cotton shirt & trousers with sandals or not.

The woman wore a white chemise with short sleeves & commonly ornamented with crossed pattern of embroidery
