Articles of agreement between W H Calhoun, employer and the undersigned Freedmen labourers of the state of Miss & County of Pontotoc this 14th day of Aug 1865

Art 1st W H Calhoun is to furnish the undersigned labourers, with Houses food & medicines of good & sufficient quality as heretofore for the ballance of the year 1865

Art 2 They are to have (1/10) one tenth of the corn peas potatoes & wheat grown on the farm

Art 3d Loss of time to be deducted out of their 1/10 at the usual rate of labour

Art 4th The division of the product is to be made when it is gathered & they are to divide it amongst themselves.

Art 5th They are to obey all orders of said employer or his agent & to do promptly & faithfully all work on the premises as heretofore

Art 6th They are not allowed to entertain any straglers or visitors black or white, without the knowledge & consent of the employer

Art 7th They are each of them responsible for the abuse of animals, loss of tools or gear or any other articles committed to their care & to pay for what they more carelessly loose or distroy

Art 8 If any of the undersigned refuse or neglect to perform
