State of Mississipi Lounds Co.
August 23rd 1865
This contract entered into = between Leroy Beckham and certain laborers = [[?]], Jane, Isom & Missouri

1st Leroy Beckam = agrees & binds himself to furnish said laborers = with good quarter Rations Clothing Medical attention = [[strikethrough]] except [[said?]] cases of protracted sickness [[/strikethrough]]

2nd He agrees & binds himself = to pay Jane (laborer) Ten Dollars ($10)
and Isom & Missouri (laborers) their Ration & Cloths = until Jany next
Any violation of this contract by said Leroy Beckam or his Agents = will subject him or his Agents to any penalties of the law = The proper officers having jurisdiction = may see proper to inflict

The said laborers on their part = Agree & bind themselves = to remain on the plantation until January next = and obey all orders of said Leroy Beckam or his Agents = properly = and cheerffully = perform = all the ordinary labor about the plantation or elsewhere = and Report all visitors (Except such as have special permission), They further, agree = to deduct (50) Fifty cents for sickness per day and (75) seventy five cent = for voluntary absence and be responsible for any tools or other implements placed in the hands
