Rules and Regulations by which the said Freedmen upon John H Gay's Plantation agree to observe and abide by 

That in order to obtain clothing they of the second part agree to spin and weave it themselves - And it is further agreed that if any party or parties of the second part voluntary leaves the said Plantation, they thereby forfeit all interest in  the said crop to the party of the first part And it is further agreed by the parties of the second part, that we will not disturb or take anything whatsoever belonging to the said John H Gay and if we or either us do - The party or parties so doing agrees to pay the said John H Gay ten times its value And it is further agreed by the parties of the second part that we will not leave the aforesaid Plantation without permission of the said John H. Gay and that we will remain in our houses after 10:00 PM. And further we of the second part or either of us agree or agrees that will take care of the tools given us to cultivate the said Plantation or pay the said John H Gay their value if neglected or lost And further we of the second part agree to feed and attend to the stock on Sunday and do all work of real necessity what is meant by necessity is; drive stock out of the field should they break in  - roof of house blown off to recover them; if the grain would be damaged by remaining uncovered or in other words any work of extreme necessity
