Agreement made with Freedmen.  

This agreement made this 18th day of September AD 1865 By and between J. M. Walker of the county of Oktibbeha and State of Mississippi of the first part and the Persons hereinafter named and undersigned Freedmen of the same place parties hereto of the second part.

Witnesseth that for the purpose of cultivating the Plantation of J M. Walkers in the County aforesaid during the year commencing on the first day of January AD 1865, and terminating on the first day of January 1866 the said J M Walker party of the first part in consideration of the promises and conditions hereinafter mentioned on the part of the parties of the second part, agrees to furnish to the said Laborers free of charge clothing and food of good quality and soficient quantity good soficient quarters medical attendance when nessessary and kind and humane treatment to Exact only one half a days Labor on Saturdays and none whatever on Sundays Ecept the regular Household work such as cooking preparing wood and making fires etc., and the care of the stock and is on the part of the party of the first part that he will furnish to the partys of the second part a soficient amount of food and clothing and it is further agreed that in case the said J. M. Walker shal fail neglect or refuse to fulfill any of the obbligation assumed by him or shal furnish said parties of the second part with insoficient food or clothing or be gilty of cruelty to them he shal besides the legal recorse left to the party or parties agrieved under this contract liable to an anulment by the Provost
