The state of Mississippi, Leake County

This agreement made and entered into by and between Joseph D, Eads of the first part and freed women Charity Clemens & her daughter Lucy Ann Jenkins of the second and last part witnesses that the said party of the second part hereby obligates & binds themselves to continue to work & labor for the said party of the first part until the 24th December 1865 and to be faithful and obedient servents & to look after the interest of the said Eads during said term

And in consideration hereof the said party of the first part obligates and binds himself to pay said party of the second part the sum of ten Dollars Each and to furnish them with suitable and sufficient food, quarters & clothing & all doctor bills -

All of which is agreed to by the parties aforesaid this 1st day of August A. D. 1865 -
