Memorandum of an agreement made this day of Oct 18th, 1865, between L. R. Portwood, of Yazoo county of [[blank]], State of Missi and assigned Freedman of [[blank]] county of Yazoo State of Missi
WITNESSETH, That said Freedman, for the consideration hereinafter mentioned, agrees to Do, common work upon the farm, usually performed by, common laborers. And in, consideration of such labor I promise to pay him eight dollars ($8) per month, & board. He promising to remain until Christmas.
And the said Freedman, for the consideration herein before mentioned agrees to work faithfully & be obedient & polite, & perform such labor as may be required of him.
