Dear Doris,

After three days of cold stormy weather the sun has decided to shine out at last. The house is cold and damp, but hope to day it will warm up. We also had tempests Sunday afternoon & evening with terrible down pours of rain accompaning it. the thunder was distant of which we felt thankful for. We hope now for warm sun to bring up what seed has been planted in the ground, before it rots. 
Lately Pa has been busy all the time he gets working up the pine bog. he thinks one more heat at it, if his man shows up, to night, will finish splitting it up so he can easily do the rest [[Cloharne?]] comes up nights to do the heavy work, driving in the wedges while Pa with the axe cuts ahead.
