Stoughton March 6 1929

Dear Doris,
I am going to write the letter as there is nothing more to do. I suppose you saw some of the inaugural proceedings in spite of the rain. We were more fortunate as it was a very pleasant sunny day. it began to cloud up after three in the afternoon & rained during the night & the next day some. but we turned on the old radio & got the whole thing, that one station WBZ. the only station we manage to get had it, so I felt that luck was on our side for once, both speeches the prayer, taking the oaths of office. the surprise from the Presidents home Palo Alto Stanford University consisting of songs from a picked quire a band of music playing old familiar pieces familiar to him while he was in collage, also congratulations. then the rest of the afternoon untill after four o'clock. they were announcing the different companies as they marched in the procession by the reviewing stand.

Unsure if those symbols were "+" or something else. A few words I was unsure of. I was able to make some changes--Janet Schoor--checker
