Fred Drake is still in the hospital with his incurable disease & Booby is superintending his affairs. They two can sympathize over theire same afflictions. two young men used up for this world sure. lucky Booby has a pension. It is clouding up for snow I suppose. 21 has just rung in & Pa has started. I must tend to dinner, a pot roast. my potatoes are done. Ma

Dear Doris,

We are all well although there seems to be lots of people sick in town. even Sue called up yesterday to find out if I was sick. I think most of people keep their houses too blamed hot, & then when they do go out they get cold. overheating is the cause of many of our distempers, you may believe. I am keeping our register open into the serving room where most of my plants are, so far, it seems sufficiently warm for them.
