Stoughton Dec 9th 1928
Dear Folks,
I am home again, the journey up was easier than I expected but thought it would never come to an end. I made friends with a lady who got off at the South Station with me. Pa's train came in a little later just in time to see the tail end of our passengers going through the gates & found me waiting in the Norfolk pew where the porter had banded me about five minutes before. after a waiting for an hour & twenty minutes or more, we got home after ten Pa had a taxi meet us at the train, as he thought I would be tired, & the suit case heavy. Lena had a good hot supper prepared for us at home & we felt tired enough to call it a day. the weather all the way never varied much, it seemed. the ground as I stepped out of the car seemed soft & spongy instead of clay like & hard.
Lena is very busy these days working for a man, a (writer) translating his writings from broken English into good English. tomorrow she is going to Stoneham, she is looking rested & think she perhaps has put on some weight, I heard her say that she did not intend to make presents this year. Bernice has sent her gifts
